About the "ECOfuture" Project

IEPA "ECOfuture"

The Belarusian International Ecological Public Association "ECOfuture" (IEPA "ECOfuture") is a young organization of the NGO sector of Belarus. The purpose of the activities of "ECOfuture" is to promote the development of a green economy, human capital, labor potential, address environmental issues and protection of the environment, developing science and technology to increase the knowledge of the population, organizations and individual entrepreneurs in the field of green economy, environmental problems and environmental protection; popularization of the environmental movement; study, implementation and monitoring of the functioning of environmentally friendly industries and technologies in the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

Project

In 2019 IEPA "ECOfuture" was implementing the project "Responsible water use and water use based on modern Dutch practices". The aim of the project was to study the existing Dutch experience of interaction between consumers, suppliers and third parties (public organizations) in the use of water resources and to prepare recommendations for the implementation of the Dutch experience in the Republic of Belarus.

Registration

The project has been agreed with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus and registered by the Department of Humanitarian Activities of the Office of the President of the Republic of Belarus.

Implementation

The project implementation included 4 stages.

Stage 1 - Grant Registration and Problem Analysis

• registration of the project in the form established by the legislation of Belarus
• studying the state of the problem in the target region and the possibilities for introducing responsible water use and water consumption based on modern Dutch practices

Stage 2 - Study of the Dutch Experience

• visit of the Belarusian water sector specialists to the Netherlands in order to study and share best practices in the water sector
• preparation of a report on the best practices of water and water use in the Netherlands and recommendations for their application in the Republic of Belarus

Stage 3 – Conducting a seminar

• holding of conference/seminar with potential beneficiaries of the project (representatives of service providers - employees of management of utilities, water utilities, consumers, NGOs and other interested parties from the regions of the Republic of Belarus)
• conducting a survey of members of the public on the identification of issues on responsible water use and water consumption

Stage 4 - Preparation of analytical materials and their release. Development of information resource - site in the Internet

• development and information content of the Internet resource on responsible water use and water consumption and Dutch experience in this field
• publication of a methodical manual on responsible water use and water consumption based on Dutch experience in this field, modern technology of water treatment and other issues taking into account public participation and civil initiative.
